Carkie
(Carkie Terrier)

Cairn Terrier / Yorkshire Terrier Hybrid Dogs

The Carkie is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Cairn Terrier and the Yorkshire Terrier. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

Miss Nelly, the Carkie (Cairn Terrier/Yorkie Hybrid) at 7 years old

Miss Nelly, the Carkie (Cairn Terrier/Yorkie Hybrid) at 7 years old. "We rescued her from the local shelter. Her previous home was an abusive one. Nelly was a severe submissive pee'r when we got her.... within 24 hrs of love, affection, and absolutely no comments on boo boo's, the peeing stopped. Now the only time it happens is if someone comes to the door that she doesn't know. Unfortunately Nelly has developed OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), we have her on medication, a lot of love, a lot of training (the only thing she knew was sit) she is getting better fast."
