Soft Coated Golden
(Golden Wheatie) (Soft Coated Golden Retriever)

Golden Retriever / Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Hybrid Dogs

The Soft Coated Golden is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Golden Retriever and the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

"Clover, the Golden Wheatie puppy at 3 months old. You can’t tell in this photo, but her fur is already starting to change colors.  By the time she is 3 years old, she should be the color of wheat.  Our vet calls her “the dog that changes colors”. Clover is super sweet and loves to snuggle.  She also LOVES to eat and literally attacks her dog food dish when it’s time to chow down.  Since she is still a puppy, she likes to chew on stuff and shred paper.  We are hoping to train her to stop these things."

"We raise Soft Coated Goldens. We like to call them "Golden Wheaties" Our buyers think it's cute. We have had nothing but positive feedback from the new owners. The puppies have great personalities and are easy to train. Most of them are born black, but we have had a few that are brindle in color. They will change their coat color out as adults and have a golden color coat."
