I submitted an application, however I do not see my listing, why not?

Rescue listings have to be approved before they show up live on the internet. This may take some time. When you filled out your application, we asked you to tell us something about your rescue. This is to help us determine if you are a true rescue. If, from what you wrote, you do not appear to be a rescue, your application will not be approved. We do not have time to contact those who's applications are not approved. If it appears your application was not approved in a reasonable amount of time, and you feel it should have been (because you are a true rescue), resubmit your application stating so. For those of you with multiple rescue accounts, please only list under one category at a time. For example do not set both your accounts under the same breed, showing up twice. If we see you are listed under a single category multiple times, your listing may be removed from our system. Abuse of this free service can get you permanently removed from our data base.

 

Can I have more then one rescue account?

Yes, the listing allows for you to list under up to 20 different types of animals, if you have more than 20 different types of animals you are currently trying to place, and you need to list under more categories, you may open a second account to list the remaining animals.

 

How can I tell if I currently have a listing on DBI?

If you are not sure if you have a rescue account on DBI and would like to check, go to the Lost Password page located at https://breederinfocenter.com/rescuebreedinfo/index.php?page=password. Put in the email address you would have used for your listing. It will then tell you if that email address is in our system and if it is it will email you all usernames and passwords for any accounts you may have already created.

 

Can I update my listing?

Yes, you can update your listing by going to the login page. Put in your username and password. After logging in orange and pink options will appear to your left. Use those options to navigate through your account.

 

How do I change my password?

To change your password - Login to your listing from https://breederinfocenter.com/rescuebreedinfo/index.php?login=1&s_login=siteadmin.  After logging in orange and pink options will appear to your left. Click in orange where it says “Update Personal Info”. Change your password, and then click the Update Info button.

 

What is the difference between the info I type in the Personal Info section and the info I type in the Update Listing section?

Your contact information is listed in two spots; under "Update Personal Info" and "Update Listing". Information listed in the "Update Personal Info" field does not show up on the internet. This information is used by us if we need to contact you. For example if we send out an administrative email, it would be sent to the email address you have listed in the Personal Info section. Your conformation emails also get sent to the email address listed in the Personal Info section. All information listed under the Update Listing section is what will show up live on your ad for the world to see. NOTE: We DO NOT sell or share your personal information. It is there strictly for our own use in case we need to contact you for one reason or another.

 

I updated my info yet it is not showing up when I view my listing, why?

Here are the most common reasons this may happen

 1. You updated your listing text but you never scrolled down and clicked the update button after typing in your new text.

2.  Your contact information is listed in two spots; under "Personal Info" and "Update Listing". Information listed in the "Personal Info" field does not show up on the internet. This information is used by us if we need to contact you for one reason or another. For example if we send out an administrative email, it would be sent to the email address you have listed in the Personal Info section. Your conformation emails also get sent to the email address listed in the Personal Info section. All information listed under the Update Listing Text section is what will show up live on your ad for the world to see. This means; if you change your email address under the Personal Info section, it will not be changed on your live listing until you manually go in and do so under "Update Listing".

 

How many categories can my listing show up under?

You may have up to 20 categories per listing. This means your listing will show up under these categories. For example; if you currently have 10 different types of dogs up for adoption, set your listing to show up under those types of dogs. Lets say you have a Siberian Husky Mix, but you don't know what else is in the mix, choose the category Siberian Husky, for that dog. If the dog is a Siberian Husky mixed with German Shepherd, you may choose both the Siberian Husky and German Shepherd categories. If you have more than 20 types of dogs you would like to choose, submit a second application for the remaining breeds.

 

I lost my username and or password

If you lost your username and or password you can have them emailed to you by going to the lost password page. You can find the Lost Password link located on the login page right below the password field.

 

Why do some people have an Email Form on their listings while others have a Direct Email link?

Dog Breed Information Center® uses a contact form to send your inquires from your listing to you, rather than display your email address directly on the listing. We do this because of the spam problem. Spammers and scammers scan the internet using a scanning robot collecting email addresses. They store them in a big data base and sell your address to other spammers and solicitors. You in return get a lot of junk spam and scam emails. By not showing the email addresses on the listings it protects you as a lister from this type of spam / scam collection. Anywhere your email address shows on the internet leaves you open to this type of collection. We choose to not let it happen on this web site.

However, there have been requests to give the option to show the email address as a link rather than using the form. With the form the person has to type in their email address twice and if they do not match the inquiry does not go through and they are asked to type it again. However, it is still possible the person is new on the internet and does not know their exact email address and may type it wrong twice, which would make your reply to them bounce not having the persons correct email address.

We added to the program a way for you to have a choice. Your listing will be originally set up to use the email form and NOT show your email address. If you like the idea of SHOWING your email address instead of using the contact form, thus possibly lessening the chances of a bounced email, Send an email to with your listing name, Email address, Zip Code and Phone number stating you would like your listing to display a direct email link and we will change your listing to a direct email link ASAP. The information requested is so we can promptly find your listing account(s) giving you faster service. You may also choose to display both the email address and the form letting the person choose which they wish to contact you with. Besides cutting back on spam, another advantage to using the email form is people can still contact you if they are using a computer without an email account set up on it, such as at a library. Also, when using the form, the person contacting you will not have your email address unless you choose to reply and answer their email.

 

Can I place my listing on HOLD?

Yes, if you wish to temporarily Suspend your listing for any reason, while logged in, click in orange where it says, "". Choose the amount of time you would like your listing to stop showing up and click the SUSPEND button. A reminder email will be sent to you two days before your listing is set to auto reactivate.

 If one places a listing on hold and wishes for it to reactivate before the set time, simply login to your account, choose the “Reactivate Ad Now” link which will appear in the orange links to your left after your listing is placed on HOLD.

 

How do I delete my listing?

Login to your listing. Click in orange where it says "Suspend/Remove Listing". Click the "Delete Ad" button.

 

What is a Username

A username is a word that you choose that is unique to you.  A lot of rescues choose their rescue name, but you can choose anything you wish.  It is just an extra security to go with your password. One has to match your username and your password to log-in to your account. Please note, your username cannot have any spaces or symbols in it and it is case sensitive.

 

I am trying to set up an account and it says my username will not go through.

Your username can only be one word with no spaces with no symbols. There can not be two exact usernames in the system so if it says "Duplicate Username" you have to back space and choose a new username. You may want to think about adding a number after the name you have chosen. For example; if you have chosen the username "Dog" and it tells you "Dog" is a duplicate name, you may want to use "Dog2".
