Description

The American Rat Pinscher is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Rat Terrier and the Miniature Pinscher. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

"These are pics of Dabey, my Rat-A-Pin. It’s funny that she is a mix because her name is a mix of mine and her "dad's": David + Shelby = Dabey. There is a pic of her when she had to wear that funny little cone. She is a very sweet and loving dog. She loves other animals, my mom and dad's Basset Hound is her "best friend." Dabey gets along with almost all people she meets even though she sometimes barks at first. She is a great dog and was very easy to train. We got her when she was 8 weeks old and now she is almost 1 1/2 years old. One thing that is not so great is that she loves to chew but now she is starting to get the idea that that is what the toys are for. Dabey loves running around outside and loves cheese. She is by far the best pet I have ever had."

Luna Bella the American Rat Pinscher at 4 years old—"We brought her home as a puppy at 5 weeks old. She is very loyal, protective, intelligent, and loving. She will protect her family as best she can for her size. She is fully grown and weighs no more than 30 lbs. She is very lean and pure muscle. She loves to play, snuggle and hide under blankets."
