Kairi the Toy Ausillon (Papillon / Toy Australian Shepherd mix) at 1 year old—"Kairi is a blue Merle Toy Ausillon. Her father is a Toy Australian Shepherd named Bandit and her mother is a Papillon. She has a fluffy curled tail and large ears that occasionally pop up. She has a very cuddly personality, blue eyes, and is a little stubborn. She is very bright and can learn things as quickly as her mother, though she is more willing to please than her mother. All of Kairi's siblings have a white tipped tail and large ears like a phalene Papillon."

Description

The Austi-Pap is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Australian Shepherd (standard, miniture or toy) and the Papillon. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

Rondo the Miniature Australian Shepherd / Papillon mix as a puppy—"This is my dog Rondo. He is a Mini Australian Shepherd Papillon mix shown here as a puppy. He has a lot of energy and has herder instincts. He loves to walk in front of you while you walk. He loves to play tug a war and tease you. He has just learned to catch toys in the air as well has swimming. He loves frisbee and loves to run. This mix definitely needs lots of exercise, needs walks and lots of play time. His hair does not shed a lot but gets very fluffy and crimpy in the humid weather. He learned sit,lay-down, high five, and paw all with in a month. He does have separation anxiety, so loves to chew my walls. He is a powerful chewer with a quirky personality. He is protective but loves people. He does however dislike bigger dogs. He is smart, loving, protective, fun, everything I would ever want in a dog. I feel very lucky to have my Rondo, he is a great dog."

Nub the Toy Australian Shepherd / Papillon mixes at 7 years old—"Nub was rescued off of Craigslist for 25 dollars. His original owners said they paid quite a bit for him and just could not keep him due to just having a baby. He is a very well mannered dog that rarely ever barks, loves attention, and runs longer than I can. He is 12 pounds and about 14 inches tall. He holds traits of both the Aussie and Papi breeds and is more than a wonderful friend."
