Kelsey the Pit Bull / Basenji mix breed dog at 3 years old—"This is Kelsey, a 3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier and Basenji mix. She's been with us for about 2 years, since she was adopted from the shelter. She was a stray until she was picked up by a kill shelter. Soon she was taken off of death row and went to an animal rescue, and they saved her from being put to sleep! She likes to sprint like a maniac, eat, wrestle and chew toys up. She absolutely loves everyone she meets! She has a Pit Bull face and ears, but the body of a Basenji and a curly tail. She also has the Basenji yodel!"

Description

The Basenji Pit is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Basenji and the American Pit Bull Terrier. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
