"This is Jack my English Setter. It was a very, very hot day and we managed to get him to relax on our lounge in the pool. He is a little over 5 months old in the photo and weighs about 51 pounds. His AKC name is Black Jack Takes All - we bought him from HiLife Kennels in Ohio. Both of his parents are champions but we have little Jack just as a pet."

Boomi the black, white and tan ticked English Setter is standing on a beach near a large body of water. Boomis tongue is out as he looks down at a hermit crab moving across the beach

"This is Boomi the tri-colour English Setter at 15 years and 6 months (!)—not kidding— and he's still going strong (well most days, that is). Boomi has been living on board a 47-ft Steel Cutter (sailing yacht) for his entire life. He is the best sailor I have ever come across. He's seen more places in this world than most people can ever dream of. He has more babies than any dog I can imagine. When he was younger, people on the more rural islands in the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean use to beg for him to breed with their dogs, because he's so gorgeous and of course he's a complete different breed to what they are used to. His only bad habit he has is to drool everywhere and to shake his head right where you're sitting so the drool lands everywhere. He gets loads of exercise—he particularly loves the beach and to chase ghost crabs (which is the photo I included). This photo was taken on an island called Woleai Island, which is part of the Caroline Islands in the Pacific Ocean. This photo was taken shortly after his 15th birthday!"

"Lately he is slowly struggling more and more to walk. Canine arthritis in his back legs and since about a week ago his limping with his front legs. So he needs help getting on and off the yacht and in and out of the cockpit. He also has cancer in various places (including his mouth). But other than that he is still very, very healthy considering his age. The vet thought the same after his examination last week. Boomi has a healthy appetite (granted he gets fed raw minced beef and special lamb and rice dog pellets from the vet). We estimate he will live for some time still—well, we sincerely hope so anyway."
