Rare, hand-painted, vintage 1950s Goebel Welsh Springer Spaniel dog—this happy looking girl is in excellent condition considering her age. She has little pieces of round felt on each paw as if she was kept in a nice, safe glass cabinet for years. From a spirited posture to the rich, creamy coat with tawny to woody brown markings and charcoal brown eyes, this figure is a marvel in old world artistry! On the bottom it says Germany stamped in black ink and the trademark 2 (TMK-2) logo with the registered (R) symbol stamped next to it. The logo is of the full bee inside the V. It was in 1950 that the Goebel company implemented the bee and the V in memory of Sister M.I. Hummel, the artist behind the famous Hummel figurines. Hummel means bumble bee in German. The V stands for Verkaufsgesellschaft, which means a sales company. This Welsh Springer stands 4 3/4 inches tall, 6 1/2 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide. Very nicely detailed, the dog appears to be smiling.
