Rat Terrier / Basset Hound Mixed Breed Dogs

Information and Pictures

A small white and tan puppy sitting down on a hardwood floor scratching the back of his ear

"This is Boss. He's a 10-week-old mixed breed Rat Terrier and Basset Hound. He loves to play (and to bite) :)! He sleeps a lot throughout the day, but at night is a wild man. He is very smart. Within 1 week he was paper trained and is now learning to go outside. He's very loving and kisses everybody! He is quite small and will grow to no more than about 20 lbs."

Other Names
  • Toy Ratshund Terrier
Description

The Rat Basset is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Basset Hound and the Rat Terrier. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
