Cicada Killer Wasp
(Giant Cicada Killer) (Sand Hornet)
Scientific name: Sphecius Speciosus
A wasp rarely bothers people, but has
extensive borrowing habits and disrupts golf courses. The female hunts cicadas
-- paralysis them and lays an egg on them to rear next years wasps. The Cicada
killer is very large, from 1½ to 2 inches long, females are twice the size of
males.
