Corgidor

Labrador Retriever / Corgi Hybrid Dog

Information and Pictures

Annabelled the tan Corgidor with huge ears is sitting outside in a backyard. There is a Grill and a bench behind her.

Annabelle the Corgidor (Labrador Retriever / Corgi mix) at 12 years old—"I had previously submitted a photo of my dog Annabelle, a sweet Lab/Corgi mix that we rescued when she was around a year old. We lost our sweet baby to cancer in April. She was 12. Rest in Peace sweet nanners, we love and miss you! (and those big ears and tiny legs!!)"

Description

The Corgidor is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Labrador Retriever and the Corgi. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

"Our Corgidor is the offspring of a full-breed Corgi mother and a full-breed Labrador father. He was an oops!! The owners of the parents were Lab and Corgi breeders. His name is Charlie. He's got a funny way about him of making lots of "noises." Charlie is the most vocal dog we've ever owned. Not barking so much as just noises. He's very, very friendly and loves pretty much everyone he comes in contact with. His tail wags constantly! He loves roughing around with our kids and also playing fetch. He also loves our black Labrador, whom he drags everywhere by her collar. He's been a good addition to our house and we all are happy to have found him!"

"Annabelle is a Yellow Lab / Welsh Corgi mix. We got Annabelle when she was about one year old, because she had run away from her abusers, and landed herself at a K-9 Country Club in Ennis, TX. Annabelle did not know how to play for about a year, until I introduced the soccer ball and snow. She has the heart of a Lab and, as we like to joke, the legs of a Corgi. She is absolutely the best dog we have ever owned, because of her kind-heartedness and eagerness to please everyone. Annabelle is so grateful that she has a loving family who spoils her rotten, and she couldn't be happier."

Dinah Washington Powell the Corgidor at 4 years old—"Her mom was a tricolor Corgi and her dad was a black Labrador. Dinah is very smart, loves living in her condo with her human mom and dad and going to Carmel, California, to run on the beach. Everyone in town knows her!"

Reba the tan and white Corgidor puppy is sitting on a carpet and there is a purple and white rope toy next to her

Reba the Corgidor puppy—"We rescued her in south Jersey, although she was born in South Carolina. She has been wonderful with our 3 kids, although she is a bit nippy. We are focusing on bite inhibition. She easily took to crate training and was housebroken just shy of 2 weeks after coming home. Her coloring is light like that of a yellow Lab and her build seems more on the Lab side as well with large paws and longer legs than a Corgi. Of course her ears are shorter than a Lab and that distinctive white stripe up her nose and ending at her shoulders is a tell-tale Corgi marking."
