"This is Bentley at 7 1/2 months old. We rescued him from a local rescue group here in California. He was the last one of his siblings to be adopted. His mom is a standard Dachshund and his dad is an American Eskimo (Spitz). He is very smart and very treat-oriented when it comes to learning a new behavior. The treat that seems to be the best for training is buffalo jerky; he will do anything you ask for a crumb of it. He was quickly housebroken, will sit most of the time when told, and loves to ride in the car. Every time we are out with him, there are more than a few people who ask if he is a Lab puppy. His out-turned feet and curled tail distinctly show that he is not. He loves to dig and would dig all day if we would let him. He is definitely a scent hound as he can find the smallest amount of food hidden anywhere."
The Doxiemo is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Dachshund and the American Eskimo Dog. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
