Raising a Puppy: Mia the Blue-Nose American Bully Pit—46 weeks old

A day in the life with Mia the American Bully (Bully Pit) puppy. 46 weeks old, 64 pounds, 18 1/2 inches from the ground to the highest point of the shoulders (the withers).

A perk-eared, thick bodied, blue nose American Bully Pit sitting on a blacktop surface and she is looking forward. Both of her ears are up and she is alert and wide eyed.

46 weeks old (about 10 1/2 months)

Heeling Practice

A blue nose American Bully Pit is walking across grass and there is a person walking in jeans next to her.

Mia practices heeling on a pack walk with no leash. We were in a safe area just in case she ran off, but she did a great job and stayed with us. This not only exercises the body, but is calming to the mind.

The Horses

A blue nose American Bully Pit is walking behind a brown with white horse across a field. There is a brown brindle Boxer in the background walking in the opposite direction.

Mia leave that horse alone. Don't follow him so close. You are just asking to get kicked in the head by doing that.

A brown with white horse is standing in grass. To the right of the horse is a blue nose American Bully Pit dog walking across a field and in the background is a brown brindle Boxer, two red lean-to shelters, a round pen, rodeo poles and a brown and white paint pony.

Good girl, circle away from Scooters back end.

Digging

A blue nose American Bully Pit is sitting on top of a dirt patch in grass. There is an old white springhouse and a 300 year old oak tree in the distance.

Oh my gosh Mia, I had assumed Stephen messed up the grass with the tractor, but he says it was not him. Did YOU dig all that up??Did Bruno and Spencer help you? I know you dogs like to hang out on that hill, but is that what you have been doing? Digging? Looks like grass seed is in order.

After a Walk

Three dogs are laying in the middle area of a van that has its seats removed on dog beds.

The pack after a walk, piled into the van and ready for a nap.

Pushy Little Gal

Three dogs are standing in front of a person on a hardwood floor looking up.

Whew, mommy's got the treat bag!! Notice how Mia is up front. She works hard to push her way to the front of the line. I mean that literally. She will push chairs, tables other dogs, people or whatever is standing in her way with her bully body, squeezing herself to the front. She will give you her paw with great enthusiasm if you happen to have food in your hand. She often has to be sent back a few steps and served the food last to knock her off of her high horse.

Puppy No-Nos

A blue nose American Bully Pit is standing over a the broken remains of a Frisbee with the rest of it in her mouth on a green orthopedic dog bed pillow and there is a bone next to the pillow.

Oh dear, toy rubber Frisbees are not Bully safe! Mia! You chewed your toy all up. Give me that before you eat the pieces.
