"Sydney the Australian Cattle Dog / Rat Terrier mix breed dog as a puppy at 5 months old. We adopted her from the Humane Society. Sydney is an extremely loveable, energetic, and intelligent puppy. She likes everyone she meets, including all animals (although some are not as excited to meet and play with her). She loves to go for walks, car rides, boat rides, and to snuggle next to us."
The Rat Heeler is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Rat Terrier and the Australian Cattle Dog. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
Note: the Australian Cattle Dog is also called Australian Heeler, Hall's Heeler, Queensland Heeler, Blue Heeler, Red Heeler, Australian Cattledog and Australischer Treibhund.
"Jack the Rat Terrier / Blue Heeler as a puppy at 3 months old. He was the runt of the litter. He is a loving dog that likes to sit on my lap all day long. He also can be very hyper at the same time!"
"I adopted Candi Cane from a home that could no longer keep her due to their sons allergies. She is a Blue Heeler / Rat Terrier mix. When I got her they told me that she had almost died when she was born and is only alive because of puppy CPR. They warned me that she was very timid but I had no idea what they really meant. I took her home and she instantly took to me. She was scared of her surroundings and has never shaken the timidness. She is just TERRIFIED of EVERYTHING. She hides under any and everything she can. You will never guess I have a dog when you visit unless you whistle a little tune and she comes running. When she sees me she has to be right beside me at all times with a big old smile. But once I take the camera out she keeps turning her head as if saying "NO, Im camera shy!". I love her to death. She is a little strange but she does have a great big heart and there is no dog like my Candi Cane. She is one of a kind!"

"Tylin is my 2 year old rescued Heeler / Rat Terrier mix. She has the aloof attitude of the heeler hearding instincts and drives and the hyper activity of a terrier. She does wonderfull with small dogs and kids. She has a dominant streak and she butts heads with my moms Shepherd, but gets along wonderfully with her Lab mix brother! She is about 45 pounds and all kinds of loveable!"
