Rescue a Wolamute Wolamute Timber Wolf (Gray Wolf) / Alaskan Malamute Hybrid Dogs
The Wolamute is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Timber Wolf also called the Gray Wolf and the Alaskan Malamute. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Anyone owning a Wolf Hybrid should take extra time to learn the animal's natural instincts and behavior. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

Zeke the Wolamute at 3 years old—"This is Zeke the great devourer. (As my 9 year old refers to him) He is the best friend a man could ask for. Like most friends he can let you down from time to time. He definitely falls into the companion compared to pet category. Anyone who asks me about owning a wolfdog I try to steer clear. I spent over a year living in the wilderness with my dog. Unless you are prepared to make this kind of commitment don't bother."
This is Laika, a Wolf / Malamute cross that is absolutely beautiful! She is a wonderful companion and although extremely willful and skittish, she is a sweet and good-humored pet.

"Inouk has a wide and thick neck with a lot of muscle, webbed feet, double eyebrows and a coat inside his ears to protect from snow. Faithful to the human being, as long as you are the alpha male. He is very loyal and protective of me, he loves people and children. Guess it is the way I brought him up. As far as I am aware, timber wolves were brought up in the Inuit villages, to protect and share. He also has the double coat, which at this moment in January is coming off like no one’s business; I have bags of it. Wish I knew someone that could spin it. He eats cooked chicken, including the bones, which are part of his diet, plus beef and lamb. Pork and milk will upset him. To be honest he eats better than me. But he is my friend and companion. I call him Inuck, which in singular from the Inuits means real person."
